Founded in 1959 by Reverends Beatrice Gaulton-Bishop, John Horning, and Doris Horning, the International Spiritualist Alliance of New Westminster, British Columbia, became a church under the Society Act on September 25th of that year, allowing it to solemnize marriages and operate as a federally registered charity issuing tax-deductible receipts.

Now known as the Spiritualist Alliance Society, the organization has undergone changes throughout the years. In 1979, a permanent location was established on 8th Street near Royal Avenue in New Westminster for Sunday services, Wednesday evening speakers, and medium workshops. From 2006 to 2020, services were held at 317 Columbia Street.
